Rudy Gay was gentleman enough to give an advance notice to Sacramento Kings that he plans to leave after the season.
Last season, Rudy put up 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 46.3% FG and 34.4% 3FG. In his career, he is averaging 18.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, 45.2% FG and 34.4% 3FG per game.
So, who are the top three teams that should inquire for Rudy?
Atlanta’s shallowest position is the SF so Rudy Gay will be a perfect fit. He is not a legit 3-and-D guy but he is at least average on both departments. With Horford and Teague out, adding another playmaker will not be that bag. Atlanta can offer their rookies which is a very sweet offer for a player with a single year left on his contract.
Why not? Wade departed this offseason and Chris Bosh nearer to an early retirement than a return to the court. Right now, Goran Dragic is the only legit playmaker of Miami so adding another one who can also complement Hassan Whiteside in defense, looks good.
This is more of a fantasy than logic. Imagine a five of Ben Simmons, Rudy Gay, Dario Saric, Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid. Can you see what I see? Another version of a death line-up! The versatility of Rudy will glue the four young studs on both ends of the court. Imagine them running the break and playing defense and you can see a mouth-watering scenario.
